#Tamara Kay Horton

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou has been a shelter for me, and a strong tower form the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. For thou, O God, hast heard my crys: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear they name. Psalm 61:1-5

Special Delivery

TK RussiaGod placed TK into our family when she was 18 months. He heard TK crying in the forest of Russia and allowed two ladies to find her. They called the police. The policeman named her Tamara Umarovna Kugaryeva. We heard about her on the radio when TK’s mom was listening to Crosstalk one day. Ingrid talked about her. Through a series of amazing events TK became a Horton. She is a joy to have as part of our family.

School

TK is enjoying being at Hedges Elementary School. She is very busy there with her Fourth Grade class and the extra activities that happen with the Learning Center. Her aide, Kathy, is a special person in her life. Her music teacher says that she has musical talent. During her week TK goes to speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and more. She is a busy fourth grader. At recess she loves to swing or play tag with her friends.

Special Events

TK is involved with Special Olympics and the DREAM skiing program. She enjoys these activities. It is special to see a group of her peers achieve goals in these areas. This year was TK’s first year to participate with the DREAM, a skiing program that she qualifies for. She has learned a lot about skiing and really likes it. On ski days she comes home very tired. When skiing is over TK is looking forward to riding her new bike.

Blessing in a Bike

The Horton family is big on spending time together. One way that we enjoy doing this is going for bike rides. It was getting difficult this last year as TK had really out grown the trailer that is hooked to Nate’s bike. She and one of the Littles would ride back there and Nate would have the other Little on the bike bar. It added quite a bit of weight to his pumping. We prayed for a bike for TK. She needs a special one and God answered that prayer threw some friends. They were very generous! Below you will see TK enjoying being part of the riding group of the family.

Girly Girl

If you want to know about everyones jewelry—just ask TK. She checks out all the dangles from everyone in church each week. She even remembers the last time someone wore a particular set of earrings and what they wore it with. Oh, she also knows if anyone else is sporting the same look. Besides jewelry she is way into playing with her doll. She loves to tote her doll around with her diaper bag, car seat, and stroller. If there is a baby then she loves to hold and take care of him or her. Here she is with her cousin Elijah when he was still small. TK also has fun being the helper in the nursery.

Singing I Go

If it is put to music TK will remember it. She loves to sing and is a joyful piece of the Horton music. Often we will hear her singing as she goes to sleep or lays in her bed in the morning. She memorized the whole Christmas program two Christmas’ ago. She knew everyones part and all the songs. During congregation singing you can hear TK singing many of the verses to the songs. At school she plays the xylophone.

It’s A Leg Thing

TK is going to a very cool place in Missoula were she is gets her leg worked on. Her current prosthesis has big bright flowers on it. It goes well with her personality. Crew, the man responsible for creating TK’s prothesis cares a lot for his patience. He lets TK come back in the work area and experiment with the equipment. He has helped TK feel a lot more comfortable with the process. Her leg gets worked on in Missoula but her doctor is still in Spokane at the Shriner’s Hospital. They are very helpful at Shriners. We are thankful for all the legs and other medical things they have taken care of for us. (TK goes to Shriners so that she can see her Great Grandpa. The whole trip is about Great Grandpa). tkplayingathanger
