My Second Shot

Published on 02/11/08

At my game on Saturday, I made my first free throw. One thing I didn’t know was that the ref’s call gave me a chance to shoot for two on the free throw line. I did know that the other player fouled me. The shoot I made was the first shot but I was a little low on the second shot. Later in the game, I made a steel. The one thing that was very different was that we had seven players out of eleven. Usually we have ten or eleven players. If we have ten players we switch out every quarter and if we have eleven players we switch out every half of a quarter. The longest I have played at a time was a quarter and a half. I was playing the last quarter of the first half and the first eighth of the second quarter. In the game I don’t know what happen but I hurt my knee but I am OK now.

The most recent time that Benjamin, my friend, came over we made a lego police helicopter for a contest. The contest is to make a lego police vehicle. The five first prize winners will get to have a lego set of their choice with a value of up to one hundred dollars. So, we went to work on that a little bit before he left. When he first came it was like way unexpected for me. So we first played with his throbots. Just before dinner my dad said that me and him could play on the computer until dinner. There is this new game on lego.com and it is with the newest lego sets called, “Phantoka.” It was pretty fun. After dinner we played with the throbots until we had to go to bed. Then the next day, we played with the throbots for a little while. Before we knew it I had to be at KMS (Kalispell Middle School), in ten minutes. I and my basketball team had pictures and then we practiced until our game. I made my first force to travel and my first basket of the season. We lost by 7. The score was 29 to 36. It’s Ok though, we are still 2 and 2. I also had some nice steels. When we got home, we played with throbots for a while and then had lunch. Then after lunch we worked on the lego police helicopter until Benjamin had to leave. It was very, very fun!

This is my first year of basketball. We have practices every Thursday from 7:30–9:00 PM. We are 2-1 for the season so far. We have been doing a very good job I think. My coaches are Coach Zorn and Coach Engles. Coach Zorn is from my church. Both of them are very nice coaches. Stephen Zorn, my friend from church is on my team. There are some boys from Russell School (were Jasmine and Alex go) and some boys from Peterson School. Our tallest player is Truman. Our shortest but I would say probably the best ball handler is Jordan. My teammates are really great guys.

I am learning a lot. We are working on our technics like behind the back, cross over, and boxing out. I am excited about practice tonight and excited about Saturday’s game and all the other days I have practices and (especially) games!

Thank you to all that have been coming to support me and my team at our games!
